Vescrutia: Legacy

Haylin and Cass stand beside one another in a verdant clearing. The sun is shining bright overhead and a refreshing breeze passes around them. Haylin leaned on Cass like a feathery wall, waiting for their opponent to show. The two of them were heating up already, running through simulations of this fight's outcome over in his mind. Their opponent had better live up to the hype.

"We're gonna hit em where it hurts."

Cass crows proudly and stamps one foot repeatedly before shaking off the excitement.

Alice arrived in the Verdant clearing, her obsidian black skin absorbing the rich UV presence of the twin stars-Xelphis and Solara. She stared into the twin sisters light,her eyes shut and her mind buzzing with ideas. In the distance she saw her opponent and his...let, maybe friend? It didnt matter. This space would allow them to push their limits without risking their lives.

"I hear the only thing were wagering is, pride."

She shouted as she began to weave her Ava. Twisting her fingers with precision to gather the loose naten around her.[naten charge x2]

Haylin and Cass both get a final shake off as the winds blew in their opponent and the sun beamed down on their crowns. He saw the onyx skinned girl wave some seals and knew that she kicked things off. Haylin chuckled and Cass dashed ahead with Haylin astride his back. Haylin's body began steaming as he clenched his fists and drew quickly closer to their opponent. Within a few meters, Haylin taps Cass on his back and the fearsome bird leaps into the air to catch the sun at its back. Cass squawked and flapped its wings quickly, increasing its hangtime for just a moment before diving toward Alice with a flurry of clawed kicks and beaks. Haylin dismounted in midair, his steaming body sweltering with glowing fists, eyes trained on his feathered friend's foe.

Alice had plenty on her mind—and just as much she planned to ignore. That’s why she was here, wasn’t it? Why she’d flung herself halfway across the world into this strange corner of reality. Realm, world, game… whatever it was, it was better than the mess she left behind. The noise couldn't reach her here. But apparently, strangers could.

She glanced at the boy and his bird—no, fowl—with a crooked grin. He rode the thing like it was born for war, not the barnyard, and the way they moved together? Like they’d done this a hundred times. Haylin and Cass. She didn’t know how she knew their names, but they were there, settled somewhere in her head like old lyrics.

They rose into the sky, sunlight making them blur at the edges. It would’ve been majestic if it wasn’t so obviously a setup. A dive. A bold one.

Good.

She loved when they came to her.

[Movement] With a low hum of effort, Alice kicked off the ground, sliding out of their dive path just as they began their descent. [Naten Charge] Her movements bled into another weave of her Ava, static sparking around her skin—thin pink bolts slithering across her arms and legs like curious little pets.

She still wasn’t sure what they were capable of—Haylin and his bird—but they were fast, flashy, and bold. And that was more than enough to work with.

Arbiter: Static Pulse The Ava weave ended with a snap as her hands flew into an unfamiliar mudra—fingers folding into a double triangle, like a picture frame, catching her two airborne opponents squarely in the center.

The static answered her call with a crackling pop, erupting outward into a wide pink net of energy. It whipped toward them like it had a grudge, ready to tangle them both mid-air—man and mount alike—unless they were faster than they looked.

Cass landed with a swooping thud, carving into the ground with a sweeping lunge of its neck that curled under its outstretched wing, the molten sparks flying from the earth beneath them showing laser focus from the furious fowl. Its aggressive beak left a red hot scar in the earth, but no mark on Alice focused on Haylin airborne.

Like a hunter on the prowl, Alice cast an electric net to capture her newfound prey in a shocking web. Haylin’s watched her weave her fingers in an interesting fashion before letting loose the pink waves of electricity to snare him up. He cocked his right arm back and the steam floating from him increased in pressure. His arm’s and joints and fascia poured long jets of glowing hot steam into the air, propelling his body into fast paced spin falling toward the shocking net. After three quick rotations, he let loose a punch that sent a large ball of flame to meet the net before him.

The ball of fire fell toward the net and, kin a flare of heat, took on the shape of a Highland Mantis about as big as Haylin himself. The mantis’s quick claws slashed at the net cast wide in front of it and, if successful, would fall directly to Alice with its remaining energy intact.

Haylin spun downward, steam blasting from his limbs as he launched the flaming mantis. It tore through the net midair, slashing apart the electric weave in a flurry of embered limbs. The air split with the force of the blow as the construct dropped, hissing and writhing in flame.

Alice slid back, boots scraping the scorched ground, gaining just enough distance as the mantis crashed where she had stood. Cinders leapt past her heels, but she didn’t flinch. She raised her hands and her breath steadied.

She began to weave her ava, arcs of light curling around her wrists and shoulders, tightening like storm coils. The earth pulsed beneath her, rhythm syncing with the crackle of charged intent.

Haylin landed in the plume of flame leftover by his Fascination Blast. The flames coiled around him and sucked into his steaming aura, muscles bulging from pressurized heat.

Cass cawed out loud and flapped their wings, taking a big leap with its powerful legs high over Haylin's heads, beak and talons glowing with searing heat as well.

In the next moment, Haylin jumped up and caught Cass's talons with his feet, turning the the bird over in midair and launching them at Alice at a breakneck speed, both of them pushing off of one another with their powerful legs. Cass spiraled toward Alice's lightclad body in a spiral of flame, searing hot beak creting an aura of flame around them as they bore down on Alice with a fiery strike.

Alice’s weaved her ava and her naten flared wide before collapsing in upon itself, threads of storm-light searing into her flesh. Her body convulsed under the sudden ignition of "Berserka," the transformation consuming her naten in a torrent of raw force. Veins pulsed bright with crackling energy, her silhouette sharpening as every muscle fiber twisted tighter, denser, more defined. The air itself warped around her as heat and lightning mixed in a shimmering distortion, her presence expanding into something predatory and unrelenting.

Her pupils dilated, irises bleeding into rings of white-hot luminescence, granting her vision clarity so sharp she could pick apart every flicker of flame dancing off Cass’s wings. The pain of her strained body dimmed to a whisper, dulled beneath the overwhelming rush of cellular manipulation. Her reflexes sharpened to lightning strikes, every nerve firing with ruthless efficiency. Steam rose off her skin, not from fire but from the violent friction of muscle and motion forced beyond natural limits.

As the Akuma cells accelerated, her aura thickened, arcs of electricity chaining off her limbs in jagged whips that scarred the ground with each pulse. Her stance lowered, tighter, every movement precise yet brimming with barely leashed violence. She was faster now, stronger, her body a storm-forged weapon, and with every second the Berserka fed, the light around her grew more volatile—an unstable promise of devastation pressed into the shape of a warrior.

Alice’s aura flared outward, arcs splitting the ground as she brought both arms forward, hands spread wide to receive the oncoming blaze. Her stance rooted deep into the earth, heels grinding into scorched soil, shoulders drawn tight like bowstrings ready to snap. The Berserka' coursing through her cells funneled strength into every tendon and muscle, her body thrumming like a conduit of raw force. She stood braced against the collision, her extended palms crackling with storm-light, prepared to twist the momentum of Cass’s spiral and Haylin’s heat into fuel for her own surging power.

Cass's spiral approach slammed into Alice with a thunderous boom, forming a bright ring of flame on impact. Cass struck with its glowing beak and one searing hot talon thrown as hard as they could into her body.

Haylin landed on the ground and took a leap to follow Cass's body, but skidded to a stop seeing the shockwave pulse from his powerful fowl and his opponent's clash.

"Shit."

Though the strike had great force behind it, the resonant thud gave Haylin a moment to reconsider his approach while his steaming hot body coursed with restrained enthusiasm.
