Central Pillar: The Unyielding Survivor
At her core, Khei Noh is a survivor. Her central identity is shaped by the need to endure, both physically and mentally, after the destruction of her clan and the burden of harboring a malevolent entity within her. She has evolved from a frightened child into a hardened warrior, driven by the necessity to control the beast within her and navigate a world that is often hostile and unforgiving.

Khei's survival instincts have been honed through years of battling in the brutal arenas of Arcturus and through solitary exploration of dangerous, uncharted territories. Her ability to adapt and overcome adversity defines her existence, making her a force to be reckoned with.

Contrast Pillar: A Haunted Past
The greatest challenge that Khei cannot escape is the trauma and guilt from her past—the slaughter of the Niyotomi Clan as a direct consequence of her escape. This tragedy haunts her, driving her actions and influencing her interactions with others. Despite her outward strength, the psychological scars remain, sometimes surfacing in moments of vulnerability or intense stress.

Khei’s cynical outlook, her sharp wit, and her deadpan humor are all shields she uses to protect herself from the pain of her past. Her apathy toward those she deems weak stems from her fear of losing control and causing more harm. She constantly battles the entity within her, knowing that one misstep could lead to another catastrophe.

Crossing Pillar: Severed Connections
Khei’s ties to her past are embodied in the few surviving members of the Niyotomi Clan who now form a devout sect. They view her as the "dishonored one" and are dedicated to capturing her at any cost. This connection is a double-edged sword, representing both the remnants of her old life and the ever-present danger of being hunted by those who once shared her blood.

These connections shape Khei's movements and decisions. She knows that she is being pursued, and this influences her tendency to remain isolated and avoid forming new attachments. Yet, there is a deep, unspoken conflict within her—part of her longs for redemption and reconciliation with her past, even as she distances herself from it.

Backstory

The Niyotomi Tribe was once a beacon of strength, wisdom, and mysticism, their name whispered with reverence across the realm. Originating from a verdant and mountainous land, known as warriors and scholars, their people walked the delicate line between physical prowess and spiritual enlightenment.

For millennia, they thrived, their society blossoming into a grand civilization that mastered both the martial and the arcane arts. Their cities, carved from the living rock of their homeland’s towering peaks, were marvels of architecture and engineering, seamlessly blending into the natural landscape. Temples dedicated to the study of the cosmos, meditation, and the pursuit of balance dotted their territory, while their warriors honed their skills upon battlefields, marking their history in combat.

The Niyotomi were a people of deep tradition, guided by a complex philosophy that emphasized harmony with the universe, the importance of duty, and value of power. Like many civilizations within Edo, combat and strength shaped the political dynamics of their culture. They were a warrior race that bred every soldier to strive for the pinnacle of success. However, the spiritual practices of the tribe were steeped in the belief that the physical world was but a reflection of the greater cosmic order, and that through discipline and sacrifice, one could attain true enlightenment.

They believed that every action, no matter how small, rippled through the fabric of reality, influencing the balance between creation and destruction. This understanding of the delicate equilibrium of the cosmos shaped every aspect of their society, from their rituals and governance to their approach to warfare and diplomacy.

But their profound connection to the universe would ultimately lead them to a burden that no other civilization could bear. It began with a prophecy, unearthed in the deepest, most ancient of their temples—a prophecy that spoke of a being of unimaginable power, a cosmic horror that devoured worlds. This being, the prophecy warned, was destined to awaken and bring about the end of all things, unless it could be contained. The Niyotomi, understanding the gravity of this revelation, dedicated their scholars toward deciphering the prophecy and preparing their warriors for the day when the horror would emerge.

Their scholars delved into the most forbidden and esoteric knowledge, seeking to understand the nature of this entity. Through their studies, they uncovered fragments of ancient texts and scrolls, remnants of civilizations long lost to the void, all hinting at the existence of a pantheon of eldritch terrors—abhorrent monsters that lurked beyond the veil of reality. Among these beings was the creature that haunted the Niyotomi’s prophecy, a nameless force of entropy and destruction. It was said to be a rogue, even among its own kind, driven by a hunger that knew no bounds. For this being did not simply exist within the universe; it fed upon it, consuming all forms of energy and life, leaving only desolation in its wake.

As the Niyotomi’s understanding of the prophecy deepened, they realized that their world was fated to be the site of the beast’s awakening. It was a terrifying revelation, one that shook the tribe to its core. Yet, rather than succumbing to despair, the Niyotomi chose to face this destiny with resolve. They believed that it was their sacred duty, perhaps their ultimate purpose, to stand as the last line of defense against the apocalypse. Guided by their teachings, they devised a plan—a ritual that would bind the beast within a human vessel, containing its power and preventing it from unleashing its full wrath upon the cosmos.

The first of the chosen was a warrior monk named Tetsuo, a man of unparalleled skill and unwavering devotion. Tetsuo was prepared in the most sacred of rites, his body and soul fortified by the combined spiritual energy of the entire tribe. When the beast finally emerged from the void, Tetsuo stood ready. Through the ritual, he became the vessel, sealing the entity within his own flesh. The process was agonizing, a battle of wills that left Tetsuo forever changed. But in the end, the Niyotomi’s plan succeeded—the beast was contained, and Tetsuo was kept sealed within an appropriate tomb.

Thus began the clan’s eternal vigil. From that day forward, the Niyotomi Tribe was bound to the beast, their very existence dedicated to ensuring its containment. Upon Tetsuo's eventual passing, a new vessel was simultaneously chosen— as the entity reincarnates into the body of a newborn infant child, starting the cycle anew.

From the moment of their birth, every child of the Niyotomi is examined for the mark of the beast– blistering crimson eyes. These abnormal features signify their destiny as the next host. And once the mark is found, the child’s fate is sealed.

The chosen one is revered and pitied in equal measure, for they bear the heaviest of burdens– a life of isolation. Once identified, they are torn from their family, stripped of their identity, and prepared for a life of solitude. They are locked away in an enchanted tomb, deep within the clan’s most secure stronghold, bound by chains of mystic iron that suppress the beast’s power. There, in the suffocating darkness, the child is kept alive by powerful charms, but removed from all contact with the outside world.

The ritual became the cornerstone of Niyotomi society, a grim reminder of the price they paid to protect their world, and others, from ultimate destruction.

Over the centuries, the Niyotomi’s identity became inextricably linked to their cosmic duty. Their culture, once rich with diversity, gradually narrowed in focus, revolving around the rituals and the preservation of the vessel. They developed powerful wards and seals, designed to suppress the beast’s power and keep it dormant. Their warriors trained not just in combat, but in the arcane arts necessary to maintain the seals and defend against any who might threaten their mission. The Niyotomi withdrew from the world, becoming a secretive, reclusive sect, their cities hidden within the mountains, their ways known only to a select few.

As time passed, the Niyotomi’s sacrifices grew heavier. The burden of containing the beast took its toll, not just on the chosen vessels, but on the entire tribe. The isolation necessary to protect the vessel led to a gradual decline in their population; many fled the tribe, fewer and fewer children were born, and soon the outside world began to forget the Niyotomi even existed. Yet the tribe endured, enriched by those who remained devout– driven by their unshakable sense of duty. They believed that their suffering was necessary, that they were the only ones who could keep the realm safe from the beast’s wrath.

But as the ages wore on, the Niyotomi’s vigilance began to wane. The rituals that had once been meticulously maintained grew rote, their significance lost to the passage of time. The prophecy, once a living force within their society, became little more than a fable, its warnings faded into the background of mundane life. And so, when the latest vessel—a six year old girl—was chosen, the Niyotomi were unprepared for what would happen next.

She was the latest chosen, marked by fate to bear the unimaginable burden. Like all Niyotomi children, Khei was raised with the knowledge of her tribe’s role in protecting the universe, the honor and weight of their duty impressed upon her from birth. Yet, when her time came, fear outweighed honor.

In a moment of desperation, the girl, terrified by the weight of her destiny, fled. And in doing so, she shattered the chain that had held the beast in check for millennia. The consequences were immediate and catastrophic. The Niyotomi, who had stood as guardians of the realm for over 20,000 years, were brought to the brink of extinction in a single night. When she awoke, she found herself surrounded by the ruins of her people. Shattered remains of their shrines and temples.. as well as the broken remains of the hands that built them. Their once-great civilization was reduced to a handful of survivors, their cities left in ruins, their sacred duty unfulfilled.

The girl, burdened with the knowledge of her tribe’s fate, meandered through the desolate remains of her former life, sifting through the wreckage in search of survivors who never appeared. The trauma of her escape, compounded by the beast’s presence within her, weighed heavily on her young mind. She wandered about Vescrutia as a child clamoring for her survival against creatures who saw her as prey. They soon learned the hard way that she was anything but.

Years passed, and as the girl grew older, so too did her understanding of the horror she harbored. Through trial and error, she learned to manage the monstrous transformation by studying the ancient scrolls she salvaged from the ruins of her home. She spent the majority of her childhood and adolescence in search of powerful wizards, esteemed sorcerers or even generational technology in hopes of finding a cure for her “condition”. And while some of the people she encountered tried to help, more of the people she encountered attempted to use her affliction to their own gain. She soon found solace within Arcturus; a land ruled by warriors too powerful to have known defeat. For a time, she participated in the arena, and despite having no talent for battle on her own, her transformation kept her alive.. and then some. But that was before the fall.

Since then, Khei Noh has wondered the past ten years or so, doing her best to maintain her transformation while haphazardly searching for a cure.. Despite knowing there wasn't one.

As of today, the remnants of the Niyotomi Tribe struggle to rebuild, to reclaim their lost honor, and to hunt down the girl they see as the cause of their downfall. They are no longer the proud, wise people they once were. They are a shadow of their former selves, driven by desperation, revenge, and a twisted sense of duty. But even in their diminished state, they hold fast to their ancient purpose—to contain the beast and protect the multiverse from the apocalypse it would bring.

Personality

Khei Noh is a woman haunted by the shadow of her past, bearing the crushing weight of the Niyotomi Clan’s destruction—a tragedy born from her desperate attempt to escape a fate she never asked for. The malevolent entity she carries within her has deepened her scars, inflicting psychological wounds that have never fully healed. Once a frightened child seeking salvation, Khei has been transformed by the passage of time and a series of brutal experiences into a hardened survivor, defined by the horrors she has endured. Her time in Arcturus, battling in the unforgiving arenas of the Grand Collessuo, served as a crucible for her evolution. There, she learned to harness the monstrous power within her, molding herself into a warrior with a far more intrepid edge.

The years she spent in a futile search for a cure only served to embitter her, whittling the once-hopeful girl into a cynical, battle-worn fighter. The pain, guilt, and grief that still linger in her heart are masked by a sharp, sarcastic wit and a deadpan sense of humor—a defense mechanism she wields as effectively as any weapon.

Khei's moral compass, once firmly aligned with the noble values of the Niyotomi tribe, has become skewed over time. The weight of her experiences has bent her principles, leaving her with a more pragmatic and, at times, ruthless outlook on life. She no longer obsesses over finding a cure for the beast within her; instead, she treats it as a chronic condition—something to be managed rather than eradicated. This shift in perspective has fueled her confidence, often tipping into arrogance. She boasts unapologetically about the overwhelming power of her transformation, convinced of her near-invincibility. Her judgment of others is harsh, based almost entirely on their strength—or the lack thereof. Khei has grown cold and apathetic toward those she deems weak, often avoiding them altogether to prevent the risk of accidentally harming or killing them with her immense power.

This detachment has further isolated her, yet she doesn’t seek out companionship; she views herself as a lone wolf, a being apart from others by necessity as much as by choice. However, Khei's life isn't solely defined by her battles. She dedicates much of her time to martial training, honing her combat skills as a way to maintain control over the beast within her. This training serves as both a discipline and a form of meditation, helping her focus her mind. Reading ancient scrolls and texts is another passion of hers, as she scours them for knowledge about her condition, the beast, and the cosmic forces that shape her destiny.

In her search for power and control, Khei has become an avid collector of magical artifacts, seeking out relics that can grant her abilities beyond her transformation. These artifacts not only bolster her strength but also provide a sense of security, ensuring she isn’t entirely dependent on the beast. However, her only problem is that she continuously misplaces or loses them.

Khei also finds solace in solitary exploration, often venturing into uncharted territories or ancient ruins, drawn to the challenge and the solitude these places offer. Her collection of trophies and relics from battles serves as a reminder of her victories, each item symbolizing a hard-won triumph in her ongoing struggle for survival. In a surprising contrast to her otherwise violent and chaotic existence, Khei has developed a love for cooking. She's had to learn to forage for food at a young age, so the act of cooking, experimenting with ingredients, and creating something nourishing offers her a rare moment of peace—a small but significant pleasure in a life dominated by conflict.

Khei’s evolution has forged her into a complex and multifaceted figure—cynical and resilient, embittered yet fiercely independent. She is driven not by hope, but by survival, and her personality reflects the crucible of her tragic past and the countless battles she has fought, often alone. Today, she is undeniably arrogant, self-centered, and condescending, with a streak of selfishness and self-indulgence that runs deep. But beneath these hardened layers, the remnants of the child she once was still flicker, a reminder of the humanity that struggles to survive within her.

Appearance

Khei Noh is an extraordinary blend of beauty and otherworldly presence. She stands tall at 5'10", with a slender but toned build, weighing around 150 pounds. Her long, jet-black hair cascades down her back or shoulder, bound in a singular braid. Her skin, flawless and smooth, is untouched by scars or blemishes, a result of her regenerative abilities.

She has a warm, light caramel complexion with a soft golden undertone that gives skin a subtle, radiant glow. Her eyes, a striking contrast to her dark hair, are a sharp, piercing shade of amber. They radiate an intensity that makes it difficult for anyone to hold her gaze for too long. Her facial features are delicate yet defined, with high cheekbones and full lips that, when not pulled into a smirk, give her a look of almost ethereal elegance.

Anthem

-Khei's knowledge of her Anthem is shallow at best. From what she's learned on her own, her Anthem allows her brain to analyze information incredibly quickly. It's as if time dialates while her cycle of thought seem to accelerate. This avails her heightened reflexes and deductive prowess.

Powers and Abilities

-Khei Noh's strength draws from an otherworldly entity known as Ul'duin, The Blind Dreamer, The Sleeping Chaos, Devourer of Worlds. Her powers are exclusively linked to her transformation, which is triggered by extreme stress, severe bodily harm, or extensive psychological trauma. Outside of her transformation, and her naturally ability to see ambient energy, Khei possesses little to no abilities. She is nimble and athletic, but bears no true muscle or strength.. Upon the exhaustion of her Naten, she is particularly vulnerable.

[Khei requires at least 15% of Naten to trigger her transformation. In her human form, she recharges at 5% per post. Once transformed, she requires 10% per post to maintain her form.]

-Physiology-

-When Khei Noh succumbs to the entity her entire being is engulfed in a terrifying transformation. Her slender frame contorts and expands, flesh stretching and bones creaking as her body is forcibly reshaped into the hulking form of a beast. This metamorphosis adds over a ton of dense muscle tissue and bone marrow to her body, reinforcing her cellular structure and making her virtually impervious to harm. Her skin, once soft and human, hardens into a thick, nearly impenetrable hide, capable of withstanding the most devastating of attacks. In this state, Khei becomes a living juggernaut, her strength and durability surpassing that of any mortal creature. Her body grows to be about nine feet tall, and will continue to grow as she consumes energy.

-Energy Consumption-

-The entity within her possesses a unique and terrifying ability: the power to consume and digest veritable forms of energy. Whether it be the searing heat of a plasma blast, the kinetic force of a concussive blast, or even the ambient energy of her surroundings, the beast devours it all, digesting the energy and converting it into a dark, entropic fuel. This fuel radiates from her flesh like a caustic miasma, staining the very air around her with the intensity of her power. Ul'duin possess the ability to see or track or sense variable forms of radiation and energy for thousands of miles.

-Exponential Might-

-While transformed, her physical might, speed, and durability grow toward overwhelming metrics; with a single blow, she can generate seismic tremors, while her powerful legs allow her to leap vast distances or charge through any obstacle in her path. The level of strength is directly proportionate to the amount of energy absorbed or already contained, allowing her to possess literal exponential might, durability, stamina, and speed.

-Regenerative Healing Factor -

-Despite the her high resistance to physical harm, it is possible to cause the Ul'duin injury. However, while transformed, Khei is capable of regenerating damaged or destroyed areas of her entire body almost instantaneously. The magnitude of her healing is directly related to how much energy she has, but allows her body to autonomously combat things such as poison, cellular transmutation, and other agents targeting her physiological integrity. However, her healing factor consumes the most of her Naten than nearly anything else. Upon exhaustion, or experiencing catastrophic levels of physical trauma, or even volumes of energy to great to be consumed at once, her body will immediately revert to normal.
